Martin Luther King Jr. , known as M.L.K was born in January 15, 1925 in Atlanta, Georgia. He led the civil rights movement as a minister. King had an impact on race relations. Being Christian, brought an enormous impact on his life. His main influence was Jesus. King followed an incredible inspiring quote which was," Loving your neighbor as yourself". One of his many influences was Henry David's Thoreau's essay. While the black race suffered he had a great impact on the lives of many African Americans. Some accomplishments of Martin Luther King was ending the legal segregation of African Americans citizens and leading the Montgomery Bus Boycott. The boycott began on the same day as the civil rights pioneer, Rosa Parks got arrested which lasted more than a year. He led the march in Washington on 1963. In the march, he delivered his "I Had a Dream" speech. King was one of the greatest speakers of all time. With all the accomplishments, he received a Noble Peace prize in 1964. King's reasoning for receiving this award was combating racial inequality without any sort of violence. Besides the Nobel prize, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold medal. After all the glory and fame he had, he was assassinated in 1968. He is no longer with us but continues to be remembered as an African American leader who changed the rights of African americans for the better.
